STEFANIA BUCCIO GONZATO
Aworld accessible only to a few is the world of women. Bearers of life, amazons when fighting, gritty and astute players in life, and yet fragile like crystals as soon as you discover them.
Stefania Buccio Gonzato shows us that world through her canvases, by embedding it in brief stories of daily life: a young girl waits alone at a cafe, four girl friends meet at a party, mother and daughter hug each other and become one, a family poses for a souvenir photo, two female tourists arrive in town.
They are generous women of soft forms, bulky hair and big eyes; they are full of hopes, made up and decked out like dolls, and sometimes wearing too flashy hats. They want to appear, be watched, admired and loved; but there is little time and little space. They are physically close to each other, shoulder to shoulder: their dresses, their legs, their hair seemingly want to merge. But they do not look at each other, as they stand alone with their thoughts. Stefania Buccio Gonzato, an artist from Brescia, lives and works in Schio in the province of Vicenza.
Close to the world of art all her life, at first though her Architecture studies and later through the wrought iron works jointly realized with her husband, in 1973, encouraged by her family, she accosts the world of figurative painting. A few years later, the first personal exhibition takes place in Bassano del Grappa. Since then, her artistic itinerary has witnessed her growing, maturing and polishing both talent and technique, while she also drew close to bronze sculpture.
She has participated in numerous expositions and earned accolades from both critics and the market. The artist brings the whole scene into the foreground, by compressing bodies and spaces; only now and then there is a narrow shortcut towards the city.
Through a neat black line, she delineates the profiles of faces, architectures and objects, while by resorting to full-bodied, lively and brilliant colours she fills up the broad areas thus traced. She juxtaposes cold and hot tones and does not bother about proportions, and large hands sprayed with black lacquer graze and rest upon small pink cheeks.
The artist exaggerates, borders on caricature: it is our attention that she desires.VITTORIO SGARBI

FROM THE POSTER OF THE EXHIBITION AT THE ORTELLI DI SCHIO AGENCYMotherhood lived as a daughter and as a mother and then again as a daughter through children. A subtle interweaving of memories where childhood is amazed but protected by love and faith in a bourgeois and ancient order. The attempt to understand the motives of life not with aggression, but rather by means of a static and thoughtful amazement. A femininity, frightened and wounded by the new violence of living. A sweet but precise architectural research that, with the perfection of the pictorial composition and the color of the tones, wants to exorcise the chaos intended as violence to thus recreate the habitat where the new woman can continue to live. application where the brushstroke and the chromatic and mass research are never left to chance, where however the deep instinct and the message of the artist remain dominant.

The author paints groups of women blurred by a shadow of melancholy, which makes their eyes look astonished and bored. They look like figures wrapped in a subtle ambiguity, with bodies crushed under hats, extravagant clothes and accessories. They are people who appear alone, even when they are together or in confusion, with faces similar to second-hand masks, for a show to be improvised while standing, sitting or moving. Stefania Buccio Gonzato probably, investigates daily, to exorcise it from a future without certainties. As a curtain to the plays, the painter poses contrasting landscapes, glacial or serene and cities with fantastic architecture, with perspective fragments, full of hermetic values, which contribute to increasing the suggestion of the settings and subjects depicting.

The impact of the image is immediate, for the originality of the subjects and for the vivacity of the colors, often vigorous, strong of energy, to express the melancholy, the dreams or the regret painted on the faces, mainly of women. mostly crammed into refined architectural structures, those of Stefania Buccio Gonzato, the result of a personal research on figural masses and colors, do not distinguish from a careful choice of contents, always aimed at expressing a message. the painter evokes from the observation of everyday life, in contrast between reality and hopes, between family love and evasive desires. She lets herself be captured and moved by what is around her: faces, expressions, internalized situations, occasional moments, which depicts with spontaneity in its pleasant paintings.

There is an equal note of poetry in these works whether the painter catches the dream of bathers on the shores of Lake Garda, whether she takes a scene of reading in the garden in the picture. Everywhere, the signs faithfully follow the lines of the characters, crammed together as in a seventeenth-century canvas, revealing a message of tranquil serenity (perhaps veiled by a thread of melancholy), which the artist makes his own, placing it in the media context of his aesthetic operation. The romantic charm of the women portrayed by Stefania Buccio Gonzato blends happily into the structural unity of the forms, delightfully defined and modeled. The charm of these figures, rather than the face, springs from the dominated voluptuousness of the bodies, cold and stiffened in the grace of their attitudes. The animated splendor of the scenes grows and throbbing, they also characterize psychologically the individuality of the people represented.

These works are striking for their freshness and sensitivity, for the sobriety of the sign and the formal lightness of the images, mainly depicting women, often in everyday melancholy. The author, however, manages to precipitate an inner light that comes from the heart, through an imaginary look of energy. The figures of Stefania Buccio Gonzato are fixed in situations of apparent normality, however, with eyes that go to fish in the depth less habitual. These female faces, although possessing well identifiable and real characteristics, seem to come out from the author's imagination precisely because of that lengthening of the gaze, as if from their bodies another from themselves were freed, in gestures, attitudes and positions that seem to follow a dream, imaginary, a desire for eros, were to escape from everyday life.

For the Gonzato the figures and the landscape cease to be a construction of the intellect and the memory to become an expression of pure emotion. This modern figurative artist that is linked to the new American and English realistic expressions, deeply observes human nature and its feelings to recreate them on the canvas with colors free from any formalism. The difference that passes between the historical figurative and the modern figurative of this artist lies in the fact in the first everything is of a static classicism, while in the works of Gonzato there is the dynamism obtained with the brilliant colors, which "pierce" the canvas and come out into the open to tell us stories of the country, especially love stories. They are living works, which tell stories full of charm, where people's attitudes denounce their state of mind, like the blonde girl of the COLAZIONE AL MOACO 2007 opera, in the foreground, who smiles at someone in front of her and, behind her, country life again.

It is not a paradox, therefore the works of Stefania Buccio Gonzato show a comparison with the reality lived in its authenticity and in its complicity, which presents a manifestation obviously very different from the simple figuration of impressionistic type or more simply realistic, since they express a vision conceptually much more complex. Starting from the chromatic function. Then the message becomes more intense, but also more careful. Stefania Buccio Gonzato, who is also professionally an architect (a detail not to be forgotten, as she emphasizes the aptitude to organize a construction), In the figuration of people, which is prevalent in her, uses the colors of the picture in terms of psychological manifestation, not much, or not only, of the artist's state of mind, which however there are and find adequate channels of communication, but those of the object, of the figured person, to which they are conferred by the artist herself.

For the Gonzato the figures and the landscape cease to be a construction of the intellect and the memory to become an expression of pure emotion. This modern figurative artist, which is linked to the new American and English realistic expressions, deeply observes human nature and its feelings to recreate them on the canvas with colors free from any formalism. It is enough to observe one of the three works that have happened to me under my eye : in the first one they are two young men, a dark boy and a blonde girl, in the foreground; in the second floor a villa and a staircase made of arches; in the third floor the houses of a country. It seems the chorography of a love film, which springs from the looks and the attitudes of the two young people. The difference that passes between the historical figurative and the modern figurative of this artist lies in the fact that in the first everything is static classicism? , while in the works of Gonzato there is the dynamism obtained with bright colors, which "pierce" the canvas and come out into the open to tell us stories of the country, especially love stories, as in the other work where two young men (he brown , she red) are sitting in the foreground on a bench (behind them we can also see the American flag, stars and stripes, perhaps to signify their nationality or perhaps peche shortly before they participated in a street demonstration) .They are living works, which tell stories full of charm, where people's attitudes denounce their state of mind, like that blond girl in the third work, in the foreground, who smiles at someone in front of her and, behind her, still the life of the town. These are romantic works that diverge from the Impressionists due to the fervid imagination and blinding Mediterranean light that emanate. They are moments stopped as in a photographic snapshot, moments that enter into the intimacy of the characters, who do not know how to hold back their emotions and their feelings. Gonzato delves into the thoughts of his characters and knows how to reach the heart, with the search for color absolute, which puts the viewer in tension. "Shizen" works could be defined as a Japanese term meaning "nature as it is", a way of presenting works that evoke beauty and respect, modernity and clarity of purpose on the part of who paints with the current technique and the sensitivity of the time of the poets. The works of this artist ultimately come close to those of the Masters of European illustration, for their enigmatic allegories and bourgeois atmospheres. The characters of the Gonzato do not struggle to communicate with each other and with their neighbor and they do it with all the malice of the young performers, like a soap opera. Their modern romanticism is poised between fantasy and reality. We are certainly faced with a new interpreter of modern realism, with a completely new dialectic, which is closer to cinema, television and comic strips, as Licktenstein does and his followers.

Stefania Buccio, a clear look at the chosen realityStefania Buccio, a multidisciplinary artist deals with graphics, painting and sculpture, as well as interior design. A plastic creator who gives a clear look to the reality she has chosen, describing situations in which the protagonist is the woman, adorned with flowers, children and men with a romantic appearance, she elaborates a subtle, almost unusual world that is born of fantasy but is connected to reality in which his characters live and relate. At the same time it describes situations and traditional scenes of trades and environments that have disappeared today, focusing on the imprint of the composition with its elements and details, harmonizing characters and objects in studied architectures, belonging to the epoch evoked in the work. Brescia, he graduated in architecture from the University of Venice with professor Gino Valle. He began to deal with painting in the early 1970s, in Schio (Vicenza). In his graphic works, he pays particular attention to details, describing male and female characters and children as part of a suggestive and imaginative world, whose childish look is born from his imagination and the need to transmit love and sobriety in a dreamy society. Capture scenes of life from different countries, feelings of travel, of people that exist and not, of characters born suddenly whose actions hide a certain mystery. In his engravings the inclusion of color in the drawing stands out, to give a studied feeling of realism, but his interest in the world of angels also stands out, adding to the scenes of everyday life mixing them with innocent characters; they are dreamy angels that help human beings and emphasize the allegorical aspect of his artistic production. In painting he develops a real world, centered on the figure of women in everyday life or as a protagonist, the focus of attention in the dynamics of existence, adorning them with flowers or accompanying them with multicolored hats to enhance the sensuality and attraction of reflected reality. Of note his use of color, the special integration of tones and chromatic nuances that circumscribe and determine the meaning of his work. His sculptures are expressive, with elaborate female characters, in which the face, the expressiveness, the personality are important. the character. They are sophisticated works, in which his perserveramza in the depiction - especially of women - stands out. He works the material in a precise way, dominating it, as shown by the final result. As for his activity as an interior designer, we find a certain tendency to prefer the space without giving up the details, but by giving himself a few licenses at the level of the elements that intervene to modify its initial proposition.

Strengthened by a personal vital force, bursting with expressive power and exuberance of color, Buccio Gonzato began to create a long "gallery" of faces and figures, also familiar, with intense colors, on the canvas, complying with that overwhelming personal need that the "invites" to express themselves and to say; so, as he sets on the canvas as in a beautiful gallery, a long series of figuration with which he gradually illustrates and "tells" his observations and reflections on reality, made even more alive and deep by his intense emotions: emotions and states of 'soul, sadness and melancholy, anxieties and thoughts that develop in a wide and colorful sensations, meaning disenchanted and sad, and sometimes even nostalgia, in a story that unfolds sincerely, in a free poetic singing: images that vibrate on canvas for their richness and deep intensity, filtered by great sensitivity.
As he wrote a book of short stories, Stefania Buccio Gonzato describes her world in harmony with family affections after canvas. A landscape of emotions of its own, based on a sometimes pleasantly playful female introspection that Buccio Gonzato invites us to share with compassion. It tells stories of women, of their friendships, solidarity, of mothers and daughters and still turns to women, inviting them to remember the serenity that comes from the simplest feelings. Some women facing a balcony console a girl sitting in the middle of their. Three fashionably dressed sisters huddle in front of a village church, so three friends around a coffee table while a little girl sitting on the legs of one of them listens absorbed. They seem moments of daily life to the still image, stolen from the passing of time. Every painted detail takes its inspiration from its real world. We recognize the faces of loved ones, his suggestions, his lessons. Even the repetition of the vessel's object is explained by real life, with a pottery course that the painter followed for a while. Her paintings depict a very personal style, which is based on one side on illustration and another to naive art, amplified realities in which the figures are always in the foreground and always magnified with respect to the landscape and architecture that surround them. . It is above all in its chines on cardboard, since its debut in painting in the early 1970s, that more attention is paid to architecture and to the lines of perspectives. When the first human figures appear in his works, the architecture becomes more apart, but although they become hinted at rather than styles, they continue to dictate the rhythm of many compositions. They are houses, buildings, interiors or exteriors that frame the characters and tell something more about their history. The predilection of Buccio Gonzato for the portrait and the story is especially evident in the oils on canvas. This is where the figures dominate the scene. The female protagonists are absolute. Women in groups or single women in domestic intimacy, women walking on the street or turning their backs to a window overlooking the sea, wearing hats or holding children in their arms. Few details are enough to give suggestions. It is often the artist herself who portrays herself on her canvases, once a wife, once a mother, once a friend. The women of Buccio Gonzato talk about themselves gracefully and give back to those who listen to them an appealing immediacy and freshness.

Diplomatases at the Liceo Artistico "Vincenzo Foppa" of Brescia with the guide in particular by the sculptor Lusetti graduated in Venice with Professor Gino in Venice Valle, later gaining valuable experience with the architects Albini and Benevolo. Thus the first projects are born, and among these, also numerous artistic objects in wrought iron, introduced in this field by the spouse Architect Gonzato Bruno with whom he collaborates in their company of Malo. (IND.IA spa).
Then, the next step can be understood, the arrival in the world of figurative art, which he practices in Schio (where he lives and works). Strong in his personal strength, bursting with vital expressive power and exuberance of color, Buccio Gonzato begins to give life to her canvas to a long "gallery" of faces and figures, even familiar, with understood colors, complying with the personal overbearing need that "invites" her to express herself and to say, as she lays on the canvas as if in a beautiful gallery a long series of figurations with which he gradually shows and "tells" his observations and reflections on reality, made even more alive and deep by his intense emotions: emotions and moods, sadness, melancholy, anxieties and thoughts that develop into a wide colorful range of sensations, now signifying disenchantment and sadness, and sometimes even nostalgia, in a story that unfolds sincerely, in a free and poetic singing: images that vibrate on the canvas for their richness and deep intensity, filtered by great sensitivity. An artist the Buccio Gonzato who sings the reality of her world that overflows with dreams and hopes, between dream and reality, the dreams (and perhaps the regrets) of her world of women, arousing in the reader so many emotions, indelible and fascinating, for the happy colored expressive vein of this "woman" who knows and who succeeds so well in expressing herself on the canvas, in her "elementary" figures and faces that speak directly to the heart in a delicate and musical way.
